Provide web/database and electronic commerce services to customers. Projects include:

  • developing a web-based resource management system for scheduling field operators
  • developing E-Commerce sites

 

  BC Tel Operations Planning and Implementation
January 1999 to September 1999

Responsible for Unix administration; web-database development; and providing support and solutions to the Provincial Network Operations Center:

  • developed and delivered various web-database Intranet solutions
  • worked on projects to port Windows-based applications to being web-based
  • administering Unix environment (including HP/UX, Solaris, SunOS, AIX, Linux)
  • administering Windows NT server environments (SQL Server, IIS)

 

MicroComputer Facility Helpdesk Analyst
May 1997 to Present

Responsible for providing support to staff/students, and maintaining the Distributed Computer Facility labs at Simon Fraser University. Some duties include:

  • end user application support
  • setting up NT and Macintosh machines to run on the Novell NetWare network
  • maintaining and troubleshooting network, hardware, and software problems
  • designing and maintaining the DCF Online web site

  • installing, configuring, and maintaining WFW, Win95, NT workstations

  I enjoy exercise and physical activities. I have a weekly routine that consists of running, swimming, and working out. My favourite outdoor activities are snowboarding, skiing, and playing tennis. I also like to play sports such as basketball, volleyball, and baseball.

From an early age, I have been around computers and enjoyed using them. I like to upgrade my computer, try out new hardware and software, and I like to write my own programs. I like to stay connected, through Bulletin Board Services (BBS) and the Internet.

Years ago, I used to run my own BBS. Now I like to write howto guides that help people setup things on their Linux boxes (Mail Servers, Samba, Web-databases, etc.). I publish these on my website have received emails from people around the world giving positive feedback.
